Bronze
At a very early age Ellen was struck by the strength of bronze. When she studied at the Academy of Arts in Tilburg (Netherlands) working with bronze became her specialty. During that time she got her inspiration from sculptures by other artists such as Arthur Spronken.
As a result of Ellen’s activity in horseback riding, initially dressage and presently western riding, the horse has become a great source of inspiration. Through riding them she can feel the enormous power of these animals and wants to express that power in her sculptures. She always finishes her sculptures herself and especially through the patination, the colouring, she can add another dimension to it.
